Secretary of Finance
(Delivered by Deputy Treasurer Nanette C. Diaz)
June 10, 2024
SSS President and CEO Rolando Macasaet; men and women of the SSS; friends from the media; ladies and gentlemen: Good morning.
Finance Secretary Ralph Recto would have wanted to be here if not for his prior commitment of equal importance. So with your indulgence, allow me to share his words with you:
I am delighted to witness the fruits of the crucial legislation I championed in the Senate to safeguard Filipino workers’ welfare.
The Social Security Act of 2018 brought to life the Workers’ Investment and Savings Program or WISP, which the SSS has enhanced into WISP Plus.
And it is very heartening to learn that these initiatives have evolved into a more robust and inclusive program called MySSS Pension Booster.
As the name suggests, this aims to give a significant boost to the retirement savings of Filipino workers, ensuring a more comfortable future for themselves and their families.
I am truly grateful to the SSS, led by its dynamic President and CEO Rolly Macasaet, for charting yet another vital pathway towards financial freedom for every Filipino worker.
This program aligns perfectly well with the national government’s ongoing efforts to ensure financial security for all Filipinos, which is the cornerstone of inclusive growth.
In our collective effort to achieve this aspiration, I encourage the SSS to keep innovating and adding more layers of social security protection for our workers.
The SSS must think outside the box—or better yet, think like there is no box in exploring new economic opportunities and untapped markets for the benefit of its members.
Above all, the SSS must constantly prove itself worthy of its members’ expectations by continuing to provide them with the best service possible, delivered with both passion and compassion.
Rest assured, the Department of Finance stands firmly behind the SSS in fulfilling its noble mission of lending a hand to Filipino workers while remaining a reliable partner of the government in national development.
Maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong serbisyo para sa bayan. Mabuhay po kayong lahat.
