Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III has praised the Land Bank of the Philippines’ outstanding employees who received this year’s Gawad Punla awards for their loyalty and dedication, which, he said, have made this financial institution one of the country’s strongest banks and that has thus far been immune from scandals and process failures.
Dominguez said this year’s Gawad Punla honorees, who have dedicated the better part of their professional lives working at the Landbank, personify the reasons why the bank is such a strong institution.
“At this time, when a few other banks suffered from scandals and process failures, the LBP stands proud as a well-managed financial institution,” he said. “We have to thank the loyalty and dedication of those who man the frontlines and guard the trenches.”
“We are not honoring them just for longevity. We are honoring them for their loyalty. We are not honoring them for just getting the job done, but we are honoring them for getting the job done in exemplary fashion,” Dominguez said in a speech read for him by National Treasurer Rosalia de Leon during the 36th Landbank Gawad Punla awarding rites held recently at the LandBank Office in Manila.
Dominguez said he is proud to be associated with the Landbank, where he is chairman, as it is an institution “enlightened with patriotism and committed to excel in the craft of banking.”
“If the Landbank stands among the strongest banks in the country today, we will have to credit the loyalty and dedication of its employees. This bank is gifted with a very competent staff and a committed corporate culture. The institution’s mission is held close to heart and pursued with competence,” he said.
“At this time, when a few other banks suffered from scandals and process failures, the Landbank stands proud as a well-managed financial institution We have to thank the loyalty and dedication of those who man the frontlines and guard the trenches,” Dominguez noted.
He said the Gawad Punla awarding ceremony is not just about the honorees, but also about everyone who draws inspiration from them.
“They remind us why we are here and why we work so hard. They are exemplars that assure us we are at the right place and doing the right thing. They encourage us to be proud,” Dominguez said.
The finance chief cited the Landbank’s unique dual role as both a state-owned bank dedicated to support the country’s agriculture sector and as a commercial bank supporting various businesses while serving as the principal depository of the government.
“Banking is a complex business with many moving parts. It requires investing great trust in the people we work with. It requires not only effective procedures but also committed personnel. It requires not only good management but also a vigorous corporate culture that encourages excellence in every task we must perform. LBP is fortunate to have all these,” Dominguez said.
He congratulated not only this year’s Gawad Punla awardees but other Landbank employees who “work day in and day out” to make the bank the institution that it is today.
