Manila – The Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Department of Finance (DOF) launched its nationwide search for the outstanding LGU treasurers, assessors, and top 100 LGU taxpayers, last October 1, 2012, on the occasion of the Bureau’s 25th founding anniversary.
The search aims to promote tax awareness and boost revenue generation at the local level.
“This recognition and award program for our LGU partners will commence in 2013, with the main objective of recognizing the innovative and meaningful contributions of outstanding treasurers, assessors, and local taxpayers who are key players in local development,” said Salvador Del Castillo, BLGF’s acting executive director.
The award will be in provincial, city, and municipal categories and will be given to exceptional individuals who embody the ideals of professionalism, competence and integrity among local treasurers and assessors, and of civic consciousness among taxpayers in the LGUs. The awards are intended to be the highest recognition to be given by the DOF, and will form part of the regular plans and programs of the BLGF.
The guidelines for nomination and selection will be issued through a department order and the call for nomination will be made in January next year.
